Dogs are not allowed at Otakon :c My dog attends with me because he is my Service Animal. I cannot go to large event without him or I'll have violent anxiety attacks. I'm sorry ;; You could always cosplay with him before Otakon?
There is a Con goer who tries every year to bring his Samoyed or Eskimo type fluff dog in as Amaterasu and they make him stay outside :c He saw my dog in 2012 and RUSHED away and came running back into the con with his dog and security chased him back out. I told him before he ran to get his dog that they wouldn't let him in, but he didn't listen. I felt bad for him.

I can relate to that anxiety thing, I'm like that with most social groups..I have panic attacks at work all the time...but I work in a grooming salon, so there is no use for my dog there...he helps when I go to parties. I take him everywhere with me...but I don't have him registered or anything to be a service animal. My boyfriend is pretty good at making sure I don't have a fit, I just can't be alone I have to have someone or my dogs near me.

I am nervous about Otakon, because I like going to small cons, but I do want to cosplay with my dog at a bigger one too. ;m;

Your dog must be excellent on the leash, in public. He must be able to sit and hold it until you release him, and never growl or react to other people or animals. No outbursts or anything of the sort. Its a tad difficult.
Many dogs cant handle large cons, My dog almost couldn't but I'm thankful he could.
Don't be nervous about Otakon, Its amazing, this years Otakon ended sunday morning. The cosplayers are awesome and the area around the convention center is safe! But it may be moving to DC next year because some con goers have been trashing the center, sadly. A building can only take so much abuse over 20 years..
Regardless its a wonderful con and its pretty relaxed, better than I expected.

I have a friend who is in the Service Animal field and she has a husky just like mine. Mine is very well behaved, but not so sure if he's Service Dog good. I just like him to be there for me, and he knows when I'm not feeling right. He's not an energetic husky and is very patient with me and soooo comforting.

Someone told me that they are moving it to DC in 2017?? ;3;

Hmm. You might look into that with your friend. Test him.
I know I am eternally grateful to have my dog wander with me wherever I go, movies, stores, cons. I'm always nervous and I can hardly talk to people without him around.

Perhaps it is 2017, I'll need to look into it xD
